COUSIN KULA WORKING FOR IT

The latest offering from the self-described Bristolian psych-pop six-piece Cousin Kula sounds something like a wondrous collaboration between Connan Mockasin and Youth Lagoon. Deep grooves, sassy drops and pulsating synthesizers come together beneath a veil of high-pitched vocals and soulful harmonies, to create a magical and immersive listening experience spanning over 5 minutes. The psychedelic influence subtly creeps in dripping from phased guitars, fuzzy bass lines and off-kilter keys, which undulate in the mix. 'Working For It' is taken from Cousin Kula's debut EP, which is due out in November. The band will be playing a run of gigs across the UK in support of the EP finishing up with a London show on the 30th of November at Servant Jazz Quarters in Hackney. -HLMX
